  • 2. Remove stock fender assembaly and rear wheel.  Unplug the stock wire harness so it can be removed with the fender assembly. (see pic 2)
  •
  • (pic 2)
  •
  • 3. Remove the stock swing arm. TIP: Remove the pivot bolt and allow the swing arm to lower, this allows access to the shock bolt wich should be loosened first. {pic 3})
  •
  • (pic 3)
  •
  • 4. You may need to do some light grinding on the inner part of the frame on an area that has somewhat of a rough casting. This is for extra belt clearance. Grind and brush touch with black paint.

  •
  • 5. Instal Sumo-X swing arm using the stock pivot bolt, outer distance spacers with seals and sleeve. (use a Vise grip and gently remove the distance spacers {pic 5}) The new swing arm comes with new needle bearings. Remember to have the new 1" drive belt in place at this time. It is best to instal the new brake line for the left side brake before you instal the swing arm also.

  •
  • 6. Once you have installed the new swing arm you should fit the wheel without the brake rotor, pulley or right hub cover. The least amount of compression on the swing arm is the most desirable. Check spacing width by installing the wheel using the spacers supplied, you will also have to have the LSB (Left side brake) main bracket in place.

  • Justify the wheel to the left and check the right side spacing between the right spacer and the swing arm using the shims supplied. Use only the number of shims needed and only use them on the right side. (pic 6) Pic shown shows the hub cover installed, it is easier to see the spacing without this cover.

  •
  •
  • 7. Install the LSB brake caliper housing (with caliper installed), LSB extensions and the rotor. (pic7) TIP: Use 4 or 5 layers of masking tape to protect the wheel and caliper housing.
  •
  • (pic 7)
  •
  • 8. Gently roll the wheel and brake assembly with the tire installed into the swing arm. Note belt and brake line
  • orientation. (pic 8a) Install Axel but do not tighten it completely  and remember to use the shim set you determined in step 6. TIP: use grease on the axel to make future removal easier. (pic 8b)

  •
  • 9. Carefully install the LSB main bracket and roll it forward until you can install the 4 3/8 bolts into the LSB cross bars, snug only for now. (pic9)
  •
  • (pic 9)
  •
  • 10.  The LSB main bracket is slotted in the front to allow adjustment of the belt, do not tighten these bolts completely until belt alignment and tension adjustments are finished. (pic 10)
